*NSYNC’s JC Chasez Goes Back to His Disney Roots on ‘Club Mickey Mouse’
JC Chasez is heading back to the Mickey Mouse Club! The *NSYNC singer makes a cameo on Disney’s latest iteration of the kids’ variety show, Club Mickey Mouse, to help mentor a new generation of entertainers on the show where he got his start.
“It was an automatic yes,” Chasez told EW of Disney’s invitation to appear. “When they told me they wanted me to pop back in and to meet these young people, I was excited because, for me, the best part about being on the show when I was young was being around my castmates … From a personal standpoint, [I wanted] to say, ‘Hey, enjoy this moment. It was a wonderful time for me, and I hope it can be a wonderful time for you.'”
Chasez appeared on the Mickey Mouse Club from 1991 to 1994, during which time fellow *NSYNC singer Justin Timberlake also starred. It was a springboard for many of the music, TV, and film talents still topping charts and box offices today: Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Ryan Gosling, and Keri Russell were all members at the same time.
The show was rebooted as Club Mickey Mouse in 2017 as a digital and social media-driven venture. Chazez will appear as a mentor in the back-to-school special, and even filmed a music video with the young stars. (You can see him starting at about 2:33.)
As for whether Chasez would ever want to do a reunion with the castmates of his youth, he said he understands it would be tough to pull off, but he would happily see any of his fellow Mousketeers. “It’s a matter of when, where, and schedules,” he said. “Everybody’s leading busy lives, but those people will be my friends forever. They will always have my support.”
