Joanna Gaines Reflects on the Meaning of ‘Home’ as She Finishes Her First Design Book
Joanna Gaines has stayed very busy since the end of Fixer Upper this past spring. In addition to welcoming her fifth (!) child with husband Chip in June, she’s been working on a new design book, Homebody: A Guide to Creating Spaces You Never Want to Leave. This week, she finished the book, and to mark the occasion, she took to Instagram to share some of her hopes for the final product.
“My design book is finally on its way to the printer and we are officially DONE!” she captioned a gallery of behind-the-scenes shots and a photo of the book’s cover. “I couldn’t have done it without this team. We’ve been working on this project for quite some time now and it’s hard to describe what I’m feeling tonight…Thankful. Relieved. Vulnerable. Giddy. Hopeful.”
She went on to explain her inspiration for the book. “I believe Home is the most important place on earth. And at the end of the day, it’s not really all about decorating or even a specific style… it’s about your story. My hope is that this book isn’t just pages filled with pretty pictures but that it is a guide that helps you create a home and space that you truly love.”
According to the publisher, HarperCollins, the book will show readers “how to create a home that reflects the personalities and stories of the people who live there … with practical steps for navigating and embracing your authentic design style.” It’s meant to give aspiring decorators an in-depth look at how certain styles are created and how to blend the styles you like to put together a space that looks and feels distinctly yours.
Homebody will be available later this fall.
