Joe Biden’s Daughter Makes Designer Debut at NYFW
Joe Biden has more than just that presidential Medal of Freedom to be proud of. His daughter, Ashley Biden, is launching a career in fashion and for a very good cause.
The 35-year-old social worker recently launched Livelihood, Inc., a “socially and ethically conscious apparel company that’s inspired by extraordinary everyday people.” Ashley, who also serves as the executive director of Delaware Center for Justice, partnered with Gilt to sell her American-made hoodies, and 100 percent of the net proceeds will support Livelihood’s community development initiatives.
According to the Livelihood press release, “For the initial collection, Livelihood will focus its community development initiatives and funding on Wilmington, Delaware, where Ashley Biden grew up, and Anacostia, District of Columbia, where Ashley first held a job as a social worker.”
The stylish single-color hoodies include women’s, kid’s and unisex styles in both pullover and zipper designs. And the best part is everything is priced between $79 and $99. You can find the designs online and in the Gilt shop at Saks OFF 5TH in NYC.
Ashley premiered the socially-conscious Gilt collaboration at a NYFW party Tuesday night, and her proud parents were front and center. When Ashley addressed the crowd at her show, she recognized her parents for inspiring her passion for philanthropy. “You have taught me to chase after my dreams, to do what I’m passionate about, to keep going when I’m knocked down, and you taught me all I know about kindness, compassion and making this world a better place,” she said.
How sweet is that?!
