Julia Stiles Reveals She Married Preston J. Cook in a “Shotgun Wedding”
Congratulations are in order for Julia Stiles and Preston J. Cook! After announcing their engagement in January 2016 and revealing back in June that they are expecting a baby, the lovebirds tied the knot in what Stiles jokingly referred to as a “shotgun wedding.”
The 10 Things I Hate About You actress took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal the news of her nuptials, which her rep also confirmed to E! News. (Per the rep, the couple said “I do” in Seattle over Labor Day weekend.) Sharing a photo of her hands, and her new husband’s hand, cradling her baby bump, Stiles added the caption, “Who doesn’t love a shotgun wedding? 😉✨”
While her message is obviously cheeky, the picture itself is perfectly sweet — and packed with little details about their seemingly low-key ceremony.
For one thing, the newlyweds appear to be standing on a beach next to the water, with Stiles in a lovely lace-covered white dress and Cook in a dark suit and white shirt. And although we can’t see their faces in the snap, we can see the simple pair of bracelets she chose to wear, as well as her wedding and engagement rings and her husband’s new gold band.
Stiles, who met Cook when he was a camera assistant on the 2015 movie Go With Me, has kept their relationship relatively private and will probably continue to do so now that they’re married. But we’ll keep our fingers crossed for even more pics from their special day. And we can just imagine that their life together will be even more charmed when they welcome their first child.
