Julie Andrews (the OG Mary Poppins) Is Getting a New Netflix Show
While we’re supercalifragilisticexpialidocious-ly excited about Emily Blunt stepping into the role of Mary Poppins in the new movie set years after the original, the woman who first played the magical nanny is getting a new Netflix show. Julie Andrews charmed us all as children with her spoon full of sugar, and now she’ll be doing it again with her brand new series that will be charming a whole new generation of little ones (and us too, if we’re totally honest).
The now 80-year-old woman we all love from not only Mary Poppins, but who also played musical-nun Maria in The Sound of Music and Queen Clarisse in The Princess Diaries (the first one, the second one and soon to be third one), has teamed up with The Jim Henson Company (as well as her own daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton) to bring us Julie’s Greenroom. Aimed at preschool audiences, the series features puppet kiddos who are learning about the performing arts from the celebrity legend (and the woman we all wish was our secret royal grandma).
The puppets won’t be the only friends dropping by, with Hollywood stars like Alec Baldwin, Titus Burgess, Carol Burnett, Josh Groban, David Hyde Pierce, Ellie Kemper and Idina Menzel making appearances.
With 13 episodes of the half-hour series coming to Netflix in early 2017, you can take a peek at a preview of Julie’s Greenroom below.
