This Is the Surprisingly Touching Meaning Behind Justin Bieber’s Face Tattoo
Oh, Justin Bieber! The 22-year-old never ceases to amaze us with his antics, and this weekend proved to be no exception. Once a sweet, sweeeet boy with “one heart” on his mind, Justin is now getting in trouble with PETA, cancelling meet-and-greets with fans and getting his face tattooed. Yup, you read that last part right: FACE. TATTOOED.
While in New York for his Purpose Tour, the Biebs took some time off to drop by West 4 Tattoo, where he met up with artist extraordinaire Jonathan ‘JonBoy’ Valena.
This resulting selfie quickly became the Internet’s newest obsession: Small enough to be a birthmark, or a even tiny speck of dirt, Bieber fans were quick to figure out that the dark mark you see underneath the singer’s eye was actually (gasp!) ink.

E! managed to track down Justin’s artist, who confirmed that though the tattoo is very — VERY— subtle, it is indeed real, and actually has big meaning behind it.
“Yes, I did tattoo a small cross near the corner of Justin’s eye,” JonBoy told the outlet. “It was a representation of his faith in Jesus and his journey with finding purpose in God.”
We’ve gotta say, we think this is wayyyyy better than the jester he got on his forearm in the midst of that whole egg-throwing hoopla. Looks like Bieber has found a new #Purpose! Good for you, Biebs!
