Justin Timberlake Wore a Time’s Up Pin After *Recently* Working With Woody Allen
Justin Timberlake’s recent return to the spotlight has fans divided in so many ways, including his attempt at showing support during this year’s Golden Globes. While prepping for last night’s show, the musician managed to amp up criticism being lobbed against him for working with embattled director Woody Allen.
Tweeting out a snap of his wife Jessica Biel alongside him prepping to leave for the Globes telecast, the “Filthy” singer wrote, “Here we come!! And DAMN, my wife is hot! #TIMESUP #whywewearblack” But Timberlake’s attempt to show solidarity for the movement of women’s equality has brought major backlash. Why? Because the actor-musician recently made the decision to work with Allen, a man with multiple allegations of child abuse against him.
Woody Allen has been accused by Dylan Farrow, the daughter of his ex-partner Mia Farrow, of childhood sexual abuse. Allen is also now married to Farrow’s adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn, whom he may have started dating while she was still a teenager.
Globes watchers lambasted the singer for his “performative” wearing of the Time’s Up pin, and called him out for wearing it while still promoting his work with Allen.
You gotta quit working with Woody Allen if you’re gonna wear that button, love. https://t.co/bYrSutVSOW

You can't say #TIMESUP right after you just did a movie with Woody Allen, knowing everything horrific he has done. pic.twitter.com/iUq0UH0aa8

how do you justify wearing black in sympathy with victims of sexual assault while appearing in a new woody allen film?

Fans also took him to task for supporting Time’s Up while he essentially allowed Janet Jackson to take the fall for his ripping her top off during their 2004 Super Bowl performance (something he’s never apologized for, either).

Didn’t you sexually harass Janet Jackson in front of the world?!? 🤔

Roseanne supported Trump during the election (& has never stopped) & she's welcome to #GoldenGlobes like he doesn't attack everything they stand for daily.
Meanwhile Janet Jackson still blackballed from Hollywood because Justin Timberlake exposed her breast on live TV. pic.twitter.com/4Nglo1VU5b

What I don’t understand is how Justin Timberlake is headling the Super Bowl when HE exposed Janet Jackson’s breast during her 2004 set, yet she’s the one banned from performing a halftime ever since… pic.twitter.com/LxngLpD0Jw

Timberlake has not made a comment about either working with Allen or about what happened with Jackson during their joint halftime performance, but in light of this backlash, he may have to.
