Justin Trudeau Has Sparked the Newest Baby Name Trend
While plenty of people are totally into Justin Trudeau’s politics and others are all about his crush-worthy ways, we still weren’t expecting this newest development of Trudeaumania. Granted, after the controversy over the full-sized cutout of the Canadian Prime Minister, we probably should expect anything and everything at this point, but we’re still surprised over the fact that Justin Trudeau has sparked the newest baby name trend. Although, when you hear the reason behind it, you’ll totally understand (and love!) why.
There’s no doubt that Justin Trudeau loves kids. The proud father of three little ones, when he’s not busy running a country, he’s at home being an incredibly adorable dad to Xavier James, Ella-Grace Margaret, and Hadrien Grégoire.

That’s why it must warm his heart to know that not only is he the inspiration for the latest baby name trend, but he must surely also be touched because of the incredibly significant reason behind it. Frankly, people are thankful.
Over the last year, many Syrian families have made new homes in Canada, at times even being welcomed by the Prime Minister himself.
That’s why these same families have decided to name their own new arrivals after the man who helped to create a new life for them. That includes Afraa Hajj Hammoud and Mohammed Belal, who came to Canada in February of last year. When they learned that they were expecting a baby, Hammoud says, “My husband says ‘How about if we name the boy Justin-Trudeau, like him.’ I was a little bit shocked … when he says that, I smile a little bit, a small smile, then I says, ‘Yes, there is no problem, it will be like a small thank you for Justin Trudeau.’” And last Thursday, Justin-Trudeau Adam Bilal was born weighing a healthy 7 ½ pounds.

While little Justin-Trudeau’s parents acknowledge the name is non-traditional, the proud mama explained, “It will be a big story because you know, the Arabic name and the English name, there is a big difference. In Syria we name the boys like the parents, like my father’s name or my husband’s father’s name, but now it’s by appreciation for Justin Trudeau, we name him like this.”
And they’re certainly not alone. Another Syrian family who has settled in Canada named their baby boy Justin Doso last November, with his father explaining that the choice was made because, “For me, he is wonderful and compassionate; I hope all leaders, whether Easterners or Westerners, would be like him.”
