Kaleidoscope Lets You Shop by Outfit from Your Phone
We love our fashion tastemakers and trendsetters. Industry favorites like The Sartorialist, The Glamourai, and Lookbook.nu are famous for showcasing trendy ensembles that make any person even slightly interested in fashion lust for a better wardrobe.
Whenever they post images of their daily outfit ideas, most fashion blogs and editorial sites feature a "get the look" list to accompany it. This is obviously great for anyone inspired by the products featured in the post, but there hasn't ever been a way to browse all of these lists from all of the best fashion sites at once.
Until now.
Enter Kaleidoscope, a new app for iPhone and Android that lets you shop "the look" from a curated set of fashion tastemakers' wardrobes. In it's simplest form, it's like Pinterest meets ShopStyle…which, in our opinion, is quite a fabulous combination of websites.
The app itself is quite simple. There is a never-ending feed of photos from sites like Lookbook.nu as well as original photography from places like Fashion Week. The company has even partnered with Details magazine to add a feed of photos from this weekend's Coachella festival.
If you see a look or product that inspires you, you can simply click on the photo and shop for similar products from across the web. The app crawls sites like Asos, The Outnet, Net-a-porter, Shopbop, and many more each day and pulls in items that match the featured outfits.
The one obvious thing missing from this app? The ability for everyday users to upload their own outfit photos. A representative from Kaleidoscope told me that they are working to roll out a feature like this, first to fashion bloggers. We're crossing our fingers we get to be included in the beta list!
