Kate Middleton Just Made a Strong Case for Wool During the Summer
We love to see when Kate Middleton repeats her stylish outfits, just like the rest of us, but it’s always exciting when we get to see a brand new outfit on her. Thursday, the Duchess of Cambridge attended an official event wearing a Gucci dress that felt so fresh for her. Trendsetter that she is, she has us considering wearing our winter wool in the dead of summer.
Middleton made a solo appearance to check out the expansion to the Victoria & Albert museum in London, and she showed up in a bold look that we want to copy immediately.
We don’t see her in Gucci too often, and this pick was a shorter, patterned departure from her usual knee-length bold solids. She stuck with her signature structured style, but the colored trim, faux pockets, and gold details on the dress were so eye-catching, it’s easy to forget she was there to do a job.
Princess Charlotte and Prince George’s mommy accessorized with a red clutch that played on the red accents in the dress, and simple black, chunky-heeled pumps, another departure from her typical stiletto heel options. The whole effect is striking and architectural, and now we’re seriously considering a summer wool moment.
The bad news is the black and white color Middleton wore is sold out everywhere (shocker), but there’s a black version of her Gucci Wool Silk Dress With Web ($2700), so you can still channel the duchess yourself.
