Kate Middleton Won the Wimbledon Style Game With Plenty of Polka Dots
Kate Middleton’s whirlwind tour of summer style continues! The Duchess of Cambridge helped kick off the Wimbledon tennis tournament Sunday wearing a polka-dot Dolce & Gabbana frock that had us seeing spots all over — but in a good way. The Royal, who is an undisputed sports fan in her own right, has taken over as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (where Wimbledon is held) for The Queen after years of attending the tournament as a guest, and she made sure to prep for her new duty in style.
Standing out from the stark, all-white ensembles the tournament’s players are famously required to wear on the court, the 35-year-old’s three-quarter-length sleeved dress featured a pattern to rival Melania Trump’s gingham, with bold black dots from shoulder to knee, a square neckline, and a flouncy pleated skirt.
To complement the look, Middleton chose black, chunky-heeled sandals with an ankle strap and a summer-white tote. She also debuted a new, shorter haircut styled in a perfectly bouncy blowout.
The result was an eye-catching ensemble that served up some serious court-side style.
Match, point!
