This Is the $9 Essie Polish Kate Middleton Wore on Her Wedding Day
You may not have married the heir to the British throne, but there’s one thing you may have in common with Kate Middleton. According to OK Magazine, Middleton wore the affordable, popular nail polish brand Essie on her wedding day.
For her big day in 2011, the Duchess of Cambridge specifically requested for a pail pink polish that would stand the test of time. After all, with almost two billion people tuned in for the moment Prince William slipped the ring on her finger, of course she’d want a top-notch mani.
The nail color she ultimately chose for her nuptials was Ballet Slipper ($9). The barely there, pale pink varnish has a light and airy feel that is perfect for summer beach vacations and brunches. And the best thing about the classic color? You can score it at your local drugstore. That’s right.
And aside from being the perfect wedding shade, it was also likely an homage to her grandmother-in-law, the Queen. According to Essie’s website, back in 1989, Queen Elizabeth’s hairdresser wrote a letter to Essie founder Essie Weingarten requesting the soft color, because it’s all her majesty would wear.
