Katherine Langford Says Goodbye to ’13 Reasons Why’ With an Emotional Post
Katherine Langford is saying goodbye to the role that made her famous. The 22-year-old, who received a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of a suicidal teen named Hannah Baker, will not be returning for a possible third season of 13 Reasons Why.
On the heels of backlash the show is facing over its second season, Us Weekly has confirmed that the Love, Simon star will not reprise her role as Baker should the show be renewed. She isn’t going lightly, however. Taking to Instagram, Langford had a moment of memoriam for the fictional character with a photo of a chalkboard covered with touching messages and a note of farewell.
“Hannah… I love you… and I let you go,” she wrote. “Those are the words I was able to say six months ago, and now can finally share with you,” she continued. “As most of you know @13reasonswhy was my first-ever job and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to tell Hannah’s story so fully in season 1, and to be asked back for a season 2.”

She continued on to give major props to the cast, crew, and the fans who followed Hannah’s journey. “Thank you for filling my life with love and light,” she gushed. “This show will always be a special part of my life, and regardless of whether Hannah is there or not, I know that I will continue to strive to do work that is meaningful and has a positive impact, whether that be in film, music, or any other form of art. There is a lot coming up this next year, and I can’t wait to share it with you.”
With rumors of a Love, Simon sequel already swirling for the young star, we have no doubt it’ll be well worth the wait.
