“13 Reasons Why” Star Katherine Langford Says She Had to “Let Hannah Go” in Season 2
With Selena Gomez revealing that filming has wrapped on season two of 13 Reasons Why, we couldn’t help but get excited, lack of premiere date be darned. Now, we’ve got even more reason to get geeked, as the show’s Golden Globe nominated star, Katherine Langford, is opening up to Entertainment Weekly about what we can expect from her character of Hannah in the show’s next installments (hint: It’s not what you might expect).
We already knew that things would be a little different for our heroine this time around, with Netflix revealing that we’d be seeing other perspectives on her story and that she’d no longer be our narrator. Langford, 21, is now telling the outlet that she kind of had to “let go” of Hannah entirely.
“You see a very different Hannah in season two,” she revealed. “I would prepare fans not to expect the Hannah from season one for a multitude of reasons… it’s funny, because I just wrapped, and I think a lot of this season for me is about letting Hannah go.”
Interesting! As sad as we are to hear that Hannah won’t be returning in the way that we remember her, as the actress points out, it opens up the story line for development of other cast members, such as newbie Chloe, as played by Anne Winters.
“It’s a different story from season one, and I think that’s a good thing,”Langford allows, adding, “This season we get to explore a lot more of the other characters and their journeys, which I’m excited about. As sad as it is, there is life after Hannah, and this season we get to see the effects it had on the people around her a lot more.”
We can’t wait to see what Netflix has up its sleeve — fingers crossed we’ll find out sooner rather than later!
