Katy Perry Says Taylor Swift Tried to “Assassinate” Her Character
Katy Perry may have thought that she was getting closer to putting her infamous feud with Taylor Swift to bed when she spilled the deets around their falling out, but considering the “Bad Blood” singer’s latest move — popping her entire back catalogue on all major streaming services on the same day Perry’s new album dropped — it looks like things are as LIT as ever. So it shouldn’t come as a shock that Perry is claiming that Swift tried to “assassinate” her character.
Opening up to NME, the 32-year-old revealed why she decided to finally speak about the sticky situation on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke, saying, “No one has asked me about my side of the story, and there are three sides of every story: one, two, and the truth.” O rly?
Though she didn’t elaborate on what exactly “the truth” is this time around, she did take another shot at Swift, saying, “I wish that I could turn the other cheek every single time, but I’m also not a pushover, you know? Especially when someone tries to assassinate my character with little girls. That’s so messed up!”
Swift, for her part, has never directly addressed the feud, telling The Telegraph in 2015, “I’m never going to talk about her in my interview. It’s not going to happen.” But the song “Bad Blood,” widely assumed to be about Perry, sends a pretty pointed message.
