Kendall Jenner, Bella and Gigi Hadid Got Wings for the VS Fashion Show and People Are NOT Happy
Anyone who’s even a little bit familiar with Victoria’s Secret knows that when it comes to the brand’s iconic models, becoming an official Angel? Is kind of a big deal.
But it’s not for everyone. Some models work for the company for years before receiving what is considered by many to be such a high honor. And one of the perks of that honor just so happens to be the adornment of their very own wings in the company’s annual runway show.
Which is why people were so totally peeved to see Kendall Jenner, Gigi (who had a bit of an oops moment with a major wardrobe malfunction) and Bella Hadid strutting around on Wednesday night with — you guessed it! — their very own feathers. Though they’ve yet to be bestowed with VS’s coveted Angel status (that we know of), these three ladies were given a fast-track pass to their wings (Gigi and Kendall have now both walked the show twice, while Bella is in her first year), and frankly? People are pissed.
kendall jenner and Gigi Hadid do not deserve wings. What a mess.

So disappointed with the fact that both Gigi Hadid & Kendall Jenner were given wings when this only their second show. #VSFashionShow

Fueling the flames is the fact that Martha Hunt (who just so happens to be an actual Angel) wasn’t given a single pair this year.
#ItReallyOffendsMeWhen experienced models like Martha Hunt dont get their wings but models like Kendall, Gigi, and Bella get them.

Kendall Jenner got 2 pairs of wings when she's not even an angel Martha Hunt is an ANGEL she didn't get wings for real I'm so mad

Others took issue with the size of Kendall’s wings, saying they should have been smaller than long-time walkers such as Adriana Lima.
How are they going to give @KendallJenner bigger wings than @AdrianaLima #VSFS2016

Not everyone was quite as harsh, however: Former VS model Veronica Webb, who walked in the first show EVER, told Hollywood Life that having been in the same spot once herself, she wasn’t upset by the company’s decision. “More power to these girls,” she said. “I never resent anyone for becoming successful!”
Gigi, for her part, was grateful just for the opportunity to walk a second time, let alone her wings, taking to Instagram to pen a sweet note about the experience.

“Forever and always the show of my dreams @victoriassecret. If I could send, through the phone, the energy and emotion that filled the breathtaking Grand Palais as the music started, it would send chills down your spine. I will never be able to put into words how much being in this show means to me and how inspired I am by the people I get to work with. Thank you @ed_razek for believing in me and having me again and for putting so much heart into everything you do.”
She went on to thank several others before saying, “Can’t wait to share this magical show with the world on December 5.”
Ay yi yi! Between this, Bella’s potential publicity stunt with The Weeknd and Irina Shayk’s pregnancy announcement, this show is shaping up to be wayyyy too juicy to miss! Tune in on December 5 to watch it all go down on CBS.
Do you think non-contracted models should be given the privileged wings? Sound off over @BritandCo.
