Kesha’s New Video Shows Us Why We Should “Learn to Let Go”
Kesha’s new music has been taking us along on her journey from legal battles and assault allegations to her ongoing healing process. And in the new video to go along with her Rainbow single, “Learn to Let Go,” the singer shows us exactly why we all should try to do just that.
In an emotional essay for The Huffington Post, Kesha revealed the inspiration behind her new tune, saying, “’Learn to Let Go’ is more than a song title… it’s become one of my mantras over the last few years. As much as our past creates who we are, we can’t let it define us or hold us back. And especially if you’ve been through something hard, and we all have, you can’t hold on to resentment because it’s like a poison. You have to learn to let go of those bad feelings and move forward.”
She added, “We all have bias based on whatever our own story and life experience has been, but really the only way to truly evolve is to let the past be the past and move forward with an open heart.” While that isn’t always easy to do, Kesha explained, “If you let your demons haunt you, they will haunt you forever. Learn from your mistakes but don’t dwell on them, and if you feel like someone has wronged you, let that be their problem ― not yours.”
Kesha also revealed that she co-wrote the song with her mom, Pebe Sebert, which makes it that much more special that we can hear her mother’s voice in the video and see clips of them together from when Kesha was little, singing and dancing around without a care in the world.
