Kesha’s New “True Colors” Single Will Make You Cry (in the Best Kind of Way)
Just yesterday, we were freaking out over the fact that Kesha was back in the studio recording music with producer and “beautiful person” (as the singer calls him) Zedd. The pair took the stage together at Coachella and totally rocked the crowd (we’d know. We were at Kesha’s surprise performance!). And now, completely unexpectedly, Kesha has released the music we weren’t sure we would ever hear and *BRB crying*.
A new version of Zedd’s 2015 song “True Colors,” it takes on an entirely new depth with Kesha singing lines like “I won’t apologize for the fire in my eyes” and “it’s time to light the flame right before it rains” along with “pulling back the reigns, letting go again, I am not afraid, I am not afraid.” It will give you chills when she sings, “I’ve escaped my capture and I have no master,” thinking back to what she’s been through, it’s an incredibly powerful line.
Take a listen and grab some tissues while you listen to this phoenix-rising-from-the-ashes anthem in full below.
Hopefully this is just the first single from a full album. *Fingers crossed* All we can say is, Kesha, you’re a true inspiration. Welcome back, Queen!
