Is it weird that we kind of want it?

KFC Now Makes Edible Nail Polish Because Why Not?

KFC Now Makes Edible Nail Polish Because Why Not?

You know that moment when you’re trying to eat healthy but all you really want is some fried chicken so you turn to your edible nail polish instead? Uh, ya neither do we. However, that’s now a real thought you might have thanks to KFC’s foray into the beauty industry. We never thought we say this, but allow us to introduce you to the fast food chain’s two new edible nail polishes.

According to Adweek, KFC Hong Kong has worked with food technologists over at McCormick (the spice company who helped created the chicken company’s secret seasoning blend) to create two new edible nail polishes that are not only inspired by fried chicken but actually TASTE like them. The two polishes will be reflective of KFC’s most popular chicken recipes: Original and Hot + Spicy.

The brand told Adweek “To use, consumers simply apply and dry like regular nail polish, and then lick — again and again and again.”

Weirdness aside, we have to admit that KFC has done a pretty killer job on the marketing of this WTF product. Take a quick glance and the polishes look a lot like something you’d find at Sephora. And the colors? We’d actually wear them. Rather than coming in variations of “fried chicken brown” they’re more of a coral red (Hot & Spicy) and a sparkly nude (original).

If you’re dying to see this weird beauty product for yourself, don’t head to your local KFC just yet. The brand has released a music video around the project (see above) and is inviting residents of Hong Kong to choose which flavor should go into mass production. After that decision has been made, hopefully the bottles will make their way stateside.
