KFC’s Latest Fried Chicken Is Brilliantly Pickle-Flavored
Next Monday June 25, KFC is debuting Pickle Fried Chicken and we’re, like Jessie Spano, so so excited. This unusual pairing comes after Sonic’s pickle slushie and the wild pickle icicles from last summer. Now, if like us, you think this sounds suspiciously similar to the pickle-brined fried chicken at Chic-fil-A, we assure you, this one is very different.
The Pickle Fried Chicken starts with a base of KFC’s Extra Crispy Chicken, which is then coated it in pickle sauce (a sauce containing dill, vinegar, onion, garlic, buttermilk, and black and white pepper). The KFC press release says inspiration for the new limited-time offering came from people’s asking for more pickles on the Crispy Colonel Sandwiches. We get it; pickles are really good with fried chicken… why not have just combine them and cut out the middle man? You can also order the Crispy Colonel Sandwich, Extra Crispy Tenders, or Chicken Littles “pickled.”
I've got a new flavor coming, and you're never going to guess what it is, unless you happen to see this GIF, which pretty much gives it away. pic.twitter.com/cQDxmZFRBn

“People are crazy about pickles, and pickle-flavored products are becoming today’s trendiest menu item,” said Andrea Zahumensky, KFC U.S. CMO, in a press release. “Pickles and fried chicken are a match made in heaven, with tastemakers everywhere pairing these flavors. Our guests have been clamoring for more pickles – especially since we launched the Crispy Colonel Sandwich — so we’re giving them what they want by coating our Extra Crispy Chicken with a mouthwatering pickle sauce that delivers a craveable punch of pickle in every bite!”
We’re into it. We just hope this pickle obsession doesn’t get any more intense. We’re not ready for it to hit our breakfast cereals.
