Kim Kardashian Is Every Mom as She Gets Real About Her Pregnancy Anxieties
North West is just six weeks shy of becoming a big sister — and the little baby boy will easily assume the title of one of the most anticipated celebrity babies of 2015. He already has people speculating on his name, and thanks to his parents’ close friendships with the likes of Anna Wintour and Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing, we know he’s going to be one of the best outfitted babies straight out of the womb. Now that Kim Kardashian is nearing her due date, she’s taken to her website to express her personal qualms, how much weight she’s gained and overall anxieties regarding this pregnancy. And believe it or not, you *will* relate.
On her site, she wrote an eight-month pregnancy check-in post in which she discussed her current state and also her pregnancy weight gain. “I have gained more than I did the first pregnancy,” Kim writes. “I’m up 52 pounds so far, with six weeks to go.” And she’s primarily feeling a lot of anxiety, she reveals, “knowing my baby is so big and I’m gaining a lot of weight. My doctor wants me to manage it better, but it’s hard to!” She also shares other differences between this baby and North. “It will be a big baby, they said,” Kim writes. “North was just four pounds, so this is new to me. This baby is already seven pounds.” The thought of labor and birth is daunting enough as it is, so we feel you, Kim! This isn’t the first time Kim shared her vulnerabilities regarding pregnancy with the public.
Kim has also been extremely open with the world in regards to her feelings about pregnancy. “For me, pregnancy is the worst experience of my life!,” she wrote last month in a blog post also for her site. “I’m not sure why I don’t like the experience like others do. Maybe it’s the swelling, the backaches or just the complete mindf–k of how your body expands and nothing fits. I just always feel like I’m not in my own skin. It’s hard to explain. I don’t feel sexy, either — I feel insecure and most of the time I just feel gross.”
Back during her first trimester (and into her second), Kim also talked about her severe and debilitating morning sickness and posted a photo of the medication she used to treat it. While she did catch a lot of heat for that post, it still started an important conversation for other moms who had gone through or were going through the same experience.
We’re used to people only gushing about the upsides of pregnancy, but it is not an all-glowing-all-the-time experience. Recently, celeb moms have been getting candidly honest with their fans regarding the difficulties they face when they’re expecting, and it’s been incredibly refreshing to see. Yes, it is a very beautiful thing, but it is also a really human experience. And it lets other moms-to-be out there know that as their bodies go through unbelievable changes, it’s all normal and something to freak out about.
So cheers to you, Kim KW, and we can’t wait to meet the little guy!
