Kim Kardashian West Just Landed Her Sixth ‘Vogue’ Cover: See the Spread!
Kim Kardashian West caused a massive stir in the fashion world back in 2014, when she appeared on the cover of Vogue with husband Kanye West, with everyone from Sarah Michelle Gellar to Anna Wintour weighing in on the decision. It appears as though she’s having the last laugh, however, as she’s just landed yet ANOTHER stint as the magazine’s cover model — her sixth! — posing for Vogue Taiwan‘s February beauty issue.
The mother of three, who has also appeared on the covers of Vogue Australia (2015 and 2016), VogueBrasil (2015), Vogue Spain (2015), as well as the original controversial cover for the mag’s US version, wore her voluminous blonde locks down for her latest spread, marking her second-ever Vogue appearance as a blonde (her first being her Marilyn Monroe-esque stint for Vogue Brasil). She kept her makeup light and neutral (“’90s-inspired,” as photographer Dennis Leopold noted), topping it all off with gold statement jewelry, a baby pink Chanel mani, and a furry YSL coat.
She shared photos of the spread on her social media pages, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot on her app. “I’m so honored to be on the cover of Vogue Taiwan,” she shared. As for the story, the 37-year-old talked about (what else!?) her latest beauty release, KKW Beauty Kimoji Hearts fragrance.
As you may recall, people were angry over Vogue‘s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour’s initial decision to cast a reality star on the mag rather than someone from the high fashion industry. “”Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it,” she wrote in her editor’s letter for the issue.
The Condé Nast artistic director went on to address the controversy, saying, “I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or perhaps that should be to a K?). As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancee on Vogue‘s cover. He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn’t true.”
Clearly, Wintour knew best — it went on to become one of the best-selling issues of all time.
