How to Plump Your Lips Using Cayenne and Kool-Aid
Kool-Aid lip gloss and DIY lip plumper have both been around for a while now, so we decided to take it up a notch and put these two homemade beauty basics together!
The nostalgic scent of super sugary Kool-Aid being cooked into the recipe caused a lot of curiosity among the gals here at Brit + Co. As did the hint of cayenne. The results? A brand new spicy sweet lip plumping blast from the past you have to try making at home!
Ingredients:
– Kool-Aid!
– 1 tablespoon grapeseed oil
– 3 tablespoons honey
– ½ teaspoon of vitamin E oil
– ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
– 3 to 4 drops of clove essential oil
Instructions:
1. Use a small saucepan and heat your stove to medium. Pour in the grapeseed oil once the pan has warmed a little.
2. Add the Kool-Aid (Note: the color will not become vibrant until you add the honey so don’t be alarmed by the brownish grainy hue at first).
3. Add honey which acts as an emulsifier to blend the oils together.
4. Use a whisk to mix these ingredients together — now you see the bright red color!
5. Now for the cayenne! This ingredient causes slight irritation to your skin which makes the lip plumping action happen.
6. Add a few drops of clove oil and stir.
7. Finally add the vitamin E oil — this will help nourish and moisturize your lips.
8. Give everything one last mix and transfer ingredients into a glass measuring cup to cool off for a few minutes.
9. Pour the mixture into your lip gloss tube. Be careful not to overfill, or the lip gloss brush won’t fit in the tube.
10. Cap it and boom!!
The first thing to do is get your ingredients together. When’s the last time you bought Kool-Aid?! We ended up going with Tropical Punch to create a red hue and Grape to create a deeper maroon shade. We did a test run with the Lemonade with very strangely colored results, so we ditched it ;)

Next thing to do is add the Kool-Aid. And don’t forget — the gloss won’t become vibrant until you add the honey. So that initial brownish color is totally normal.

Cap it and boom!
Now, don’t those look professional? :)
Of course, you’ve gotta test it out. We enlisted Roxy to get the job done. Look at those smackers!
