Kristen Bell Reveals a Big, Important Truth About Motherhood
Kristen Bell may be starring in the new movie Bad Moms, but IRL Bell isn’t having any of it. “Party like a mother” is the film’s tagline, but perhaps “there’s so much nonsense” or “we’re all on the same team” might work better for her IRL situation with hubby Dax Sheppard. Taking time to chat about parenthood and the struggles of being a mom, Kristen revealed that, although ladies may fail, at least we can be there for each other through the nutso, er, wonderful parenting years.
Talking to the peeps over at Today, Kristen was candid about feeling like a failure but not allowing judgement to get the better of her, even if “there’s avocado or poop on every surface.”
The 35-year-old mom to three-year-old daughter Lincoln and one-year-old Delta addressed the fact that it’s best to ditch the rigid expectations, because “there are so many moms and so many people out there who are done with that game of picking sides and having stereotypes and feeling like we’re at war with each other. I choose not to label myself under any circumstance. I’m not a good mom; I’m not a bad mom. I’m the mom I am and I try very hard, and when I fail, that’s OK.” Totally okay and totally awesome.
Side note: Anyone else notice that the Bad Mom’s “PTA Queen Bee” is named Gwendolyn? Perhaps a nod to everyone’s favorite luxe life momma, Gwyneth Paltrow? Take a peek at the trailer below and decide for yourself.
