Kyle Richards Umansky’s Home Was Robbed of More Than $1 Million in Jewels
UPDATE (December 30, 6:42ET): Mauricio Umansky addressed the robbery on his Instagram page Saturday with his best memories from 2017, writing, “Nothing replaces family. They can steal your belongings, but they can’t steal your memories or your love.”
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards Umansky got a nasty surprise while on vacation in Aspen this week. According to TMZ, the reality maven’s home in Encino, LA, was robbed Wednesday night while the family was away, with the housekeeper discovering the break-in.
Law enforcement officials told the outlet that the burglar(s) entered the property, which Richards Umansky and her husband, Mauricio Umansky, just purchased in October, by using a ladder to reach the second story balcony.
Once inside, they headed straight to the master bedrooms, where they were able to make off with $150,000 of watches belonging to Umansky, one of which was gifted to the real estate mogul by his late grandfather, and nearly all of Richard Umansky’s jewels. Included in the loot was her gold wedding band inscribed with the words “Mauricio forever” and the pair of $100K earrings she received for her 20th anniversary to her husband last year.
The outlet reports that while the family does indeed have a state-of-the-art security system, it was not turned on at the time of incident due to home renovations the couple is implementing. Cops do not believe it to be an inside job, noting similarities to previous celebrity robberies, including Mariah Carey’s back in October.
