Lady Gaga Accidentally Twinned With Judy Garland at the 2019 Golden Globes
Even before the 2019 Golden Globes kicked off this year on January 6 at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, Lady Gaga owned the red carpet in a stunning cerulean blue number (with matching hair) that seemed to pay tribute to Judy Garland in the original version of A Star is Born. As it turned out, the singer and actress was unaware that her Valentino Haute Couture dress bore a striking resemblance to Garland’s gown in the 1954 film and when she was alerted to the coincidence she told ET, “It looks an awful lot like that, doesn’t it?”
Gaga — who’s nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture in the Drama category — completed the custom-made fairytale frock with Giuseppe Zanotti platform heels and over 100 carats of Tiffany & Co. jewelry (including 300 brilliant diamonds and a 20-carat pear-shaped diamond stone).
Although her look lacked Garland’s plum-colored opera gloves or mauve stole, the styles are undeniably similar pointing to Gaga’s subconscious channeling of the legendary actress’ style. “Thank you for showing me that,” Gaga told ET. “It made my night.”
