Lauren Conrad’s Pretty-in-Pastel Halloween Costume Is a DIY Dream
Hollywood + Halloween go hand in hand — from Holly Madison’s indispensable advice on how to find the perfect costume to Gigi Hadid’s awesome Grease Sandy hair, there’s DIY inspo practically everywhere you look. One celeb in particular is giving you a headstart when it comes to your 2016 costume, and that’s one Miss Lauren Conrad.
Killing the game year after year, DIY queen Lauren is a bit of a master of the holiday. You could take our word for it, but should you require proof, there’s the year she went as an enviable mermaid, her lazy-girl group DIY of antlered animals, her Shining-esque doll recreation… need we go on?
She recently revealed this year’s big plans over on her blog, and once again, she’s nailed it. Using whimsical ballerina tutus as her base in addition to some seriously cool clown makeup (no, not the creepy kind that’s currently giving the nation nightmares), Lauren is going as — wait for it — a circus performer. Not only that, she’s telling us EXACTLY how to recreate it, step-by-step.

With alternate versions to her clown available (specifically a mime and a tightrope walker), this could easily be used as a group costume, as LC proves with two gals pals here, though it also works as a standalone should you choose to, well, go it alone — the choice is yours.
Inspired by a $17,900 Valentino dress (eeek!), Lauren’s homemade look doesn’t have a final cost quoted, as items will vary depending on your choices, but we know it’s sure to run you a heck of a lot less than the Valentino. “I had a vision of putting a pastel twist on regular circus performer costumes and incorporating the sequins from that dress into our own costumes,” she says.
We think it turned out great. But better get on it — Lauren said this puppy took her a whole day (hours of fun included, that is)!
