The holidays are fast approaching (too soon? sorry, guys), and it’s time to start thinking about that perfect gift. Legacy Republic is a new marketplace that helps you salvage your old photos and VHS tapes — like all your home movies — and turn them into less obsolete media formats that the whole family can enjoy for years to come.
Legacy Republic launched at the end of September, so they’re really just getting started. It’s run differently than the typical VHS-to-DVD conversion business (P.S. DVDs, are those still a thing?). It works a little like Stella & Dot, the social-selling jewelry startup, where you host parties after being educated on the service, then sell the service and get sweet discounts for yourself. So, it’s kind of like having your own business of sorts.
If you attend a gathering, we imagine knowing your consultant face-to-face in a Tupperware party-type situation makes it a whole lot easier to hand over your precious footage to be converted.
