WHOA: Lin-Manuel Miranda Just Signed on for the Mary Poppins Sequel
One of the highlights of the 2016 Grammys was unquestionably the live performance by the stellar cast of runaway hit Broadway show,Hamilton. If you were blown away by the musical magnificence, you weren’t alone. The Internet went nuts over a stellar performance led by Hamilton’s star, Lin-Manuel Miranda. The people behind the new Mary Poppins sequel, which will reportedly star the lovely and soon-to-be mom of two Emily Blunt, were equally impressed, and are apparently in talks to have Lin-Manuel Miranda join the cast of the upcoming Disney movie.
The star and creator of Hamilton, Lin-Manuel would play Jack in the sequel, which will focus on the now-grown charges of the magical nanny who returns to help Jane and Michael Banks with Michael’s own little ones in Depression-era London. Sounds chipper! So far, Lin-Manuel is only the second potential cast member whose name has been tied to the movie, so we’re all on the edge of our seats to find out who gets the role of Bert, the chimney sweep. While nothing has yet been confirmed, we do know that Lin-Manuel already has a working relationship with Disney, as he’s composing the music to their new princess film Moana.
So who the heck is Jack? He’s no Bert, but instead he’s a friendly lamplighter who gives Mary Poppins a helping hand. We know he’s gonna slay it.
