The Live-Action Lion King Release Is Coming WAY Later Than You Probably Thought
Every Lion King-related announcement gets us even giddier for the new live-action remake. When buzz got out that Donald Glover was on board, we were thrilled. When Beyoncé’s name was linked to the project, we freaked out even more. But now, Disney has revealed the Lion King’s release date, and we’ll fully admit we’re a bit disappointed — the new remake will be coming WAY later than you probably thought. On the bright side, we learned some super exciting casting news that gives us yet another thing to look forward to.
Hollywood heavyweight and director extraordinaire Jon Favreau took to Twitter to break the big news, and while we were prepping to be wildly psyched (and already scheduling a date-night for that particular day), we’re pretty darn bummed by what was flashed in the brief message.

July 19? Woo! 2019?! Boo!
Now, the good news: Timone and Pumbaa will be perfectly played by…
Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner. While both stars have yet to comment on their social media accounts, The Wrap says the deal has been inked. 2019 can’t come quickly enough!!
Are you disappointed that we have to wait so long for the new live-action Lion King remake? Let us know @BritandCo!
