What These Vegan Instagrammers Are Doing to Donuts Will Blow Your Mind

It’s true that you love donuts SO much that your perfect birthday would include a giant donut birthday cake. And it’s also possible that your fantasy wedding would feature donut cakes and donut walls. Plus, let’s face it — you sprout emoji heart eyes at the mere *thought* of mini rainbow donuts. If that’s you (and don’t worry, we won’t judge ’cause obvi that’s us too), prepare to have your obsession with fried dough taken to a whole ‘nother level. Donut pops, donut cereal (yes, cereal!) and bubblegum donuts, anyone? Oh, and all are 100 percent vegan — so raise a coffee mug to our planet. Here are 19 times vegan donuts stopped us in our tracks on Instagram.

1. Fruit Loopy: You’ll have no problem getting in a whole day’s worth of fruit servings when you do it the donut way. Bring on the next round.

"Are You Cereal" Donut Cereal. Raw, Vegan & .. well, donuts for breakfast - Amiright? (serves 2, or 1 if you're feeling greedy lol) 2 cups oats, blended into a meal 1 cup ground almonds 1/2 cup date paste** 1-2 tbsp maple syrup 1 tsp pure vanilla powder or extract 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg pinch of salt a few tbsp water To serve; Melted Vegan Choc & Vegan Sprinkles to ice donuts (optional) Plant Based Milk of choice to serve 1. Combine the ground almonds/oats and spices in a mixing bowl. Add the date paste & maple syrup and work with your hands until it begins to stick together into a dough, gradually adding a few tbsp of water at a time to help it bind. Add enough water until it is a pliable dough that holds together well. 2. Press into mini silicone donut moulds and chill for 20-30 minutes (or you could prepare them the night before for the morning) 3. If icing with vegan chocolate simply ice then chill them in the freezer for 5 minutes to set the chocolate. 4. Serve with plant based milk and anything else your heart desires. ** Date paste is simply dates that have been pitted, soaked in boiling water then drained and processed into a thick paste. I keep it stored in the fridge for these kind of occasions & for sweetening things. Happy days. #bestofvegandonut

GERMAN DONUTS. . [Advertisement] Hy everybody 🙋 Today I want to share these delicious German donuts with you. German donuts? Well, they have different names here. Outside of Berlin they are called Berliner or Faschingskrapfen (ie carnival cruller because they are mostly eaten in the carnival season). In Berlin, they are called Pfannkuchen (ie pancakes; pancakes in Berlin are called Eierkuchen, ie egg cakes). Quiet confusing, isn't it 😄 Anyway, they are extremely delicious 😍 These are filled with a blueberry-chia jam and glazed with pink pitaya (@jojufruits) or butterfly pea flower icing 😊. . Vegan.DIY: German donuts (14-16 pieces). - melt 3 Tbsp coconut oil in 1 cup (230 ml) plant milk (I used spelt milk). - transfer to a bowl, stir in 1/4 cup brown sugar and let cool down to luke warm. - stir in 1 Pack (7 g) dry yeast and let activate for 10 min (bubbles/foam should form). - mix in 3 cups (400 g) spelt flour (one by one) and 1/4 Tsp salt; knead dough until smooth (7-10 min). - form a ball and place it in a slightly greased bowl; let rest at a warm place for about 1 hour (or until dough has doubled). - roll dough to about 1 cm thickness; cut out donuts (I used a glass with about 7 cm diameter). - place donuts on parchment paper and let rest for 30 min. - fill about 1 cm oil in a pan and heat. - fry donuts for about 3 min per side (or until sizzling stops and they are golden brown). - let cool down. - make a small incision and fill donuts with your prefered filling using an icing bag. - either just add icing sugar (traditional version) or glaze them with your prefered icing. - enjoy 😊. . This is my entry to @bestofvegan #bestofvegandonut contest. . 🍩 COOKIES N CREME DONUTS 🍩 Simple Choc Donut Recipe: 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 1/4 cup cocoa powder 1/2 cup raw cane sugar 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp nutmeg pinch of cinnamon 1/2 cup soy milk 1 tsp apple cider vinegar 1 tsp pure vanilla extract with seeds 1 tbsp ground flaxseed mixed with 3 tbsp water 1/4 cup vegan margarine 1. Preheat the oven to 180c and grease a donut tray. 2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. 3. Mix together the soy milk and apple cider vinegar and let it sit for a few minutes until it thickens. 4. In a small saucepan, melt the soy milk, vanilla, flaxseed (the egg replacer) and margarine over a low heat until the butter has just melted (Do not let it boil/simmer) 5. Combine both wet and dry ingredients until a soft dough forms. 6. Using a teaspoon, spoon the mixture evenly into the donut moulds, flattening out with your finger for best results. 7. Bake for 12 minutes. They are done once they have firmed up and a toothpick comes out clean (they don't need to 'brown') 8. Pop them out of the moulds and then allow to cool completely before icing. ---- ICING: 2-3 tbsp melted coconut oil 2-3 tbsp soy milk 1 2/3 - 2 cups powdered sugar 1 tsp vanilla bean paste Crushed Oreos 1. Whisk together the melted coconut oil and soy milk and slowly begin to whisk or beat in the powdered sugar until you reach your desired consistency. Adjust liquids if you need to. Dip each donut in icing until well coated and place on a lined tray to let any excess drip off. Crush Oreos over top Set the donuts & their icing in the fridge for 15-20 minutes then enjoy!
