Lollapalooza Artist Frankie Has the Simplest Hack for Applying Mascara in the Car
As a recording artist for RCA and a touring musician, it goes without saying that LA-based singer Frankie is on the move — a LOT. This weekend she’ll be heading to Chicago to perform her first ever Lollapalooza festival (where we’ll be hanging with her as she checks out the scene — stay tuned!), making a pit stop for a “back to school” show in Powell, Ohio on August 5, then trekking back to the West Coast to perform in Irvine, California on August 20.
As one can imagine, so much time on the road leaves precious little time for other important things: like getting beautified. “I’m always on the road, and I usually have to do my makeup in the car, which can be… challenging to say the least,” she tells us. We feel that!
Luckily, Frankie has come up with a KILLER beauty hack right in line with our beauty confessions to help her put her best face forward no matter where she is. And guys? It costs less than $3.
“A lot of times, when I’m putting on mascara, I’ll use a spoon to cover my eyeshadow while I apply so when the car hits bumps I don’t get mascara all over my face and mess everything up.”
Um, genius? See how it works out for her below.
What It Is: A good ol’, everyday plastic spoon.
How It Works: Allow Frankie to demonstrate for you in three simple steps with this photo tutorial.
Step 1: Start with a freshly prepped face.
Step 2: Cover your top lid as you apply mascara to your top lash line.
Step 3: Repeat the above process, only this time, cover your under-eye area with the spoon as you apply mascara to your bottom lashes.
You’re finished! “Yay, no mascara on my face!” Frankie says.
Where You Can Find It: While you can likely get your hands on one of these bad boys just about anywhere, we found a 96 ct. box going at Walmart for $3.
Who Should Use It: The perpetually late (*slowly raising hand*), the gal on the go or anyone trapped in a car with zero time to primp. “Try it!” Frankie urges. “I know it’s weird, but it helps.”
