Madonna Finally Launches MDNA Skincare Line in the US
Considering that Madonna has been a beauty and fashion icon for 35 years, it’s only fitting that the Material Girl would have her very own skincare line. Since its launch in 2014, however, fans have had to go overseas to get it, as the brand, MDNA, has largely only been available in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan… until now.
As of this week, it’s FINALLY available in the US, both online and at select Barneys New York counters in New York (on Madison Avenue) and in California (in Beverly Hills), with plans to hit even more Barneys stores come fall and spring.
In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, the pop legend said she was “tired of hearing people complain here that they can’t get it in America.”
MDNA Skin features minerals and ingredients from natural sources, such as ancient springs in Montecatini Terme, Italy, or volcanic ash from the same region, that’s used in her Chrome Clay Mask (below).
The 59-year-old developed the line with Japanese beauty and wellness parent company, MTG, with the goal of providing “beauty solutions that inspire you to reconnect with your true essence and intrinsic beauty.” Prices range from $50 for an Eye Mask to $600 for a full Rejuvenator Set, which includes a Magnetic Flow device ($180) that’s designed to improve circulation, activate pressure points, and optimize skin, as well as the aforementioned mask ($120-220) and accessories.
“It’s a line I can use every day,” she told the outlet. “Some things I use when I don’t wear makeup and am not doing shows, and others are specifically good for having to apply makeup and be on stage under lights… I developed it for me specifically, but it also feels universal. I mean, my children use it; my friends use it.”
As the “Trance” singer explained, it’s not just for your face, either. “I’ve used the chrome clay mask on my butt,” she told the New York Post. “Don’t you want soft skin on your butt? Don’t other people look at your butt? Your butt has an audience! I encourage it.”
She also admits to using the brand’s The Serum ($240, above) on her knees, putting leftover liquid from the Eye Mask on her elbows, and spritzing The Rose Mist ($180, below) everywhere. “I attack my kids with it,” she said.
As for the more affordable eye masks, the musical icon gave us a few helpful tips, telling WWD, “I use the eye masks; I throw them in the freezer so they are icy cold. I sleep on my face so when I wake up my eyes are always puffy so I really need them. I put them on for a couple of minutes before I get out of bed. As they thaw out on your face, the ice aspect reduces inflammation and the serum has the hyaluronic acid in it.” Nice!
The line currently features eight products, with plans to add more down the line, including an expansion to men’s grooming and even color.
She’s also looking to add mini-sizes that will be more affordable and perhaps a secondary line at a lower price point, so we’ll soon ALL be able to look like Madonna without breaking the bank.
We’re DEFINITELY here for that!
