Make It Mini: A Tiny Tassel Tree Garland
Last week in our Make It Mini video series, we showed you how to make the cutest embroidered holiday pin. This week, as the holiday cheer really starts washing over us, Make It Mini takes on the tree garland — only our version is teenie weenie and with pom-poms and tassels (spoiler: We LOVE tassels)! Hang this garland on your tree, festively arrange it on your mantel or sew it to a sweater for a totally original and DIY ugly Christmas tree sweater! All you need to make this is different colored yarn, a fork (to use as a tassel anchor), scissors and a needle with a bigger needle eye (for the yarn). Once you have all the materials, it’s time to let your festive fingers do the work!
Begin by wrapping yarn around the fork and then tying through the center. Then finish the tassel by cutting through one side so that the yarn feathers out.
Next, take your needle and yarn and thread through the tassel. Continue threading with pom-poms until you’re satisfied with the length of your tassel.
Tie a knot at the top and cut, making sure to leave a little extra yarn to connect your tassels together. Continue tasseling and pom-pomming to your little heart’s desire.
Lastly, it’s time to make the tough decision of where to put your adorable tasseled tree garland. Tree or sweater — we think both are equal parts adorable and festive.
Now you have the cutest, tiniest, festive-est garland we ever did see! If you need a little more direction on this project, just check out the video below.
