We’re really hoping this latest retail gimmick will start trending. Marc Jacobs is revisiting a commerce concept the brand pioneered for this year’s New York Fashion Week and opening a second pop-up fragrance store where you can use tweets to pay for goods. This is the one instance in which we’re totally okay with throwing down 140 (characters) for a bottle of perfume.
Transactions at the new London-based Daisy Marc Jacobs Tweet Shop will go down like this: Shoppers who snap photos and post messages with the hashtag #MJDaisyChain will receive MJ-branded swag in exchange for their social media collateral on their way out of the brick-and-mortar. Take the most creative pic of the day and you’ll score a Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag (#winning). Don’t worry, there will be plenty to tweet about in-store. According to Elle UK, the shop will be tricked out with a live photo booth, a nail bar, art + music provided by two certified girl crushes, artist/model Langley Fox and DJ/writer Hanna Hanra, and of course, free Wi-Fi.
The shop will open Friday, August 15 in Covent Garden, and for those of you reading this beneath Big Ben’s shadow, it’s a must-visit. So consider this your official invite, even if you didn’t happen to receive a daisy IRL from Marc’s devastatingly handsome marketing street team (see the boys in action in the vid below). For the rest of us, we can only hope that daises will pop up on this side of the pond next spring. MJ, we’ve got a social media-friendly space in SF in mind ;)
So tweeting for goods seems like THE BEST idea, right? Which other beauty + fashion brands do you want to see follow suit? Tell us in the comments below.
