With the 2019 awards season now behind us, Hollywood is once again focused on future theatrical releases. March brings a couple of big-screen blockbusters to theaters, including the highly anticipated Captain Marvel, Disney's live-action Dumbo, and Jordan Peele's creepy Us. Check out those and five other new movies that people will be talking about this month. Greta (March 1): Chloe Grace Moretz returns to her horror movie roots in Greta, a creepy drama that follows naive NYC newbie Frances (Moretz) as she befriends an eccentric woman named Greta. Frances has just recently lost her mother, and while at first Greta's maternal instincts are comforting, they soon take a sinister turn. (Photo via Shane Mahood/Focus Features)
Captain Marvel (March 8): The first woman-led movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally here, and Brie Larson appears to be in fighting form as pilot Carol Danvers, AKA Captain America. We teared up just seeing the photos from the premiere, so we expect to be fully crying when we're actually sitting in the theater. (Photo via Chuck Zlotnick/Marvel Studios)
Gloria Bell (March 8): Julianne Moore shines as the title character in this remake of a critically acclaimed Chilean film, about a 50-something divorcee who embarks on a new romance with a man she meets in a singles club. The real love story, though, is the one that develops between Moore and the film's audience through every raw, deeply human moment of her performance. (Photo via Hilary Bronwyn Gayle/A24)
Five Feet Apart (March 15):Riverdale star Cole Sprouse returns to the big screen in this tearjerker of a teen drama that's giving us major Fault in Our Stars vibes. Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson play teens battling cystic fibrosis who, after meeting in the hospital during treatment, defy their doctors' instructions to stay six feet apart as they fall further in love. Captive State (March 15): John Goodman and Moonlight star Ashton Sanders star in this sci-fi thriller about an extraterrestrial force that has taken over Earth — and the liberties of humankind. The movie touches on themes of government oppression and constituent uprisings. Expect to be on the edge of your seat the whole time. (Photo via Parrish Lewis/Focus Features)
Wonder Park (March 15): This one is geared toward a younger set, but sometimes movies made "for kids" are the best escape from reality. In Wonder Park, 10-year-old June is struggling to cope after the loss of her mother when she discovers a real-life version of the amusement park she used to construct with her toys when she was younger. Now, she has to team up with the animals in the park to save it from destruction. (Photo via Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies)
Us (March 22): After the massive success of 2017's Get Out, Jordan Peele is back with another psychological horror film, Us. Winston Duke and Lupita Nyong'o star as a husband and wife whose family beach trip takes a terrifying turn when four strangers who look exactly like them and their kids show up at their vacation house. Maybe don't watch this one alone. (Photo via Universal Pictures)
Dumbo (March 29): Disney's jam-packed year of live-action reboots kicks off with the release of the Tim Burton-directed Dumbo. (Aladdin and The Lion King will follow later in 2019.) It's been a while since we last saw the 1941 animated original, but if this is anything like that, there will probably be some tears involved.
