Celebrate Fat Tuesday with Mardi Gras Jello Shots
Shots shots shots! It’s Fat Tuesday, and what better way to celebrate than with Mardi Gras themed Jello shots? No matter where you are, it’s time to throw on some beads, make some Jello shots and party your face off. We were definitely inspired by our Cinco de Mayo Jello Shots for this sweet spiked creation.
Ingredients:
– 3 oz lime jello
– 3 oz lemon jello
– 3 oz raspberry jello
– 1.5 cups vodka
– 4 lemons
– 4 limes
– blue food coloring
To prepare the “shot glasses,” wash the lemons and limes and then cut them in half. Using a lemon squeezer, squeeze the juice out of the lemons. Then, pull out the pulp. It’s easier to use a knife to make an initial first cut, and then use your fingers to pull out the rest. Repeat this process with the rest of the lemons and limes. To keep the shot glasses steady in the fridge, place them in a mini muffin tin.
Next, we’re moving onto the spiked jello! Put the jello powder in a medium mixing bowl and boil 1 cup of water. When the water boils, add it to the jello powder. Mix until all the powder is dissolved. Then, add ½ cup of cold water and ½ cup of vodka to the jello. For the raspberry jello, add a little bit of gel food coloring after adding the vodka to make it purple. Remember, a little bit goes a long with with food coloring so add a bit at a time until it reaches your desired color. For all the other flavors, no food coloring is necessary. Simply pour the jello mixture into your shot glasses.
Refrigerate for at least two hours, but preferably overnight. Cut into wedges and add gold sprinkles and you’re good to go!
Serve with a hefty side of beads and Mardi Gras fun!
