Margaret Atwood Wants Drake for The Handmaid’s Tale Season 2
With the first season of The Handmaid’s Tale wrapped up, and confirmation that season two is on its way, the author of the original novel, Margaret Atwood, is talking about her hopes for the next round. She recently admitted that she’d love to see Canadian-born rapper Drake make an appearance.
In an interview with The Boston Review, Atwood told interviewer (and author) Junot Diaz that she wants to see Drake pop up in season two of the show. “Wouldn’t it be fun for him to have a cameo in season two of The Handmaid’s Tale?” she asked, adding, “I’ll drop that notion into the ear of Bruce Miller, the showrunner, and see what he can do with that, because of course the show is filmed in Toronto. Maybe Drake could help smuggle someone?”
While Atwood said that she’s never actually met the “Hotline Bling” rapper, they apparently have mutual acquaintances. “It seems like currently Toronto — and we could say by extension Canada — has two global superstars: Margaret Atwood and Drake,” Diaz replied.
Of course, Drake has plenty of history in front of the camera, having starred for eight years on the teen drama Degrassi as “Jimmy Brooks,” a character made famous after he ended up paralyzed by a gunshot wound during a school shooting.
