Check It Out! Three Ways to Be Marilyn Monroe This Halloween
We love that Marilyn is a classic Halloween costume, but we decided to add two more takes to give it a unique spin. Love all three? Grab your two besties and create a Marilyn troop! All of these pieces can be bought on Amazon Prime — perfect for these situations where time just seems to disappear. And now I’ll leave you with a quote from Marilyn herself. PREACH, girl!
“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I’m out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.” — Marilyn Monroe.
Classic Marilyn
Marilyn’s dress
wig from Amazon. Pair with large pearl earrings and strappy heels.Alicia was a champ for spinning in heels for this shot. We even made her spin with her eyes closed — #nonormaldays here at Brit HQ.
With Miss Monroe, you want to aim for the bold defined brow, a wicked winged cat eyeliner, those red lips and, of course, her trademark mole! To enhance your features, go heavy on your blush and highlighter. Comb through the wig to help shape and refine her curls, then finish off with a few spritzes of hairspray.
When I found this picture of Marilyn Monroe, I became obsessed. Yes, yes and everything yes! Can you believe this dress exists on Amazon? Amazon, I looove you!
Sequin Marilyn
Cut one slit up the leg and the other down the chest. Attach a silver broach to the top of the leg slit and adorn your neck with pearls or a sparkly necklace. Use fashion tape or safety pins to help hold the dress slits in all the places that they should be ;)
Andy Warhol Marilyn
Our last Marilyn is inspired by Andy Warhol’s painting. We turned this painting into a couple’s Halloween costume! Grab your S.O. and learn how you two can channel your inner painting and painter.
Pop art is all about the color, so the more color, the better :) Use spray paint to update a classic Marilyn dress and wig.
I used Ben Nye pink face paint and a makeup sponge to apply it all over my face and body. Set the face color with powder and then use a teal to create a bright shadow on the eye. Finish off the look with bold eyebrows, a red lip and Marilyn’s signature mole. PS: I actually have a similar mole on the right side of my face, so I went ahead and darkened that one ;)
