Why Mark Zuckerberg’s Touching Pregnancy Announcement Deserves a “Like”
You know what makes us beyond happy? A good, creative pregnancy announcement. Thanks to social media there have been a ton of unique “We’re having a baby!” reveals — Macklemore’s ultrasound vid, Kelly Clarkson’s vocal take, a Fresh Prince rap and even a Wes Anderson mini movie. The latest via social media comes courtesy of Facebook’s own Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan on (where else?) Facebook.
The Facebook CEO + Founder shared the happy news on his Facebook page that his family of three (Hungarian Sheepdog Beast counts, okay!) are expanding to a fam of four when their daughter arrives. Alongside the news of Mark + Priscilla (who he adorably refers to as Cilla throughout) expecting a baby girl, he also reveals a heart-wrenching piece to the couple’s pregnancy journey.
The book club creator wrote in the post that the couple has been trying to have a child for a couple of years but they “have had three miscarriages along the way.” He continued the post by explaining why he wanted to share a bit of their experience. “In today’s open and connected world, discussing these issues doesn’t distance us; it brings us together. It creates understanding and tolerance, and it gives us hope. We hope that sharing our experience will give more people the same hope we felt and will help more people feel comfortable sharing their stories as well.” Though a hard topic to talk about, we applaud the couple’s openness and find it relatable for the thousands of other couples who have gone through a similar experience.
To end things on a lighter note Mark added a joyful moment during their ultrasound. “In our ultrasound, she even gave me a thumbs up “like” with her hand, so I’m already convinced she takes after me.” Congrats Mark + Priscilla — and thanks for sharing your journey with us!
