It’s about to get fetch up in here — a Mean Girls musical is NOW definitely on its way. Yes, despite the fact that we’ve been teased with the possibility for a few years now, the #girlsquad boss herself, Tina Fey, shared a major update today.
Dropping the news while promoting her new film, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, at a Times Talk, Tina told the crowd that, while she’s not into a Mean Girls 2, she IS working on the musical script with her hubby, Jeff Richmond and Nell Benjamin, who was the force behind turning Legally Blonde into a musical.
Although there’s no date for when we can expect the girl gang to starting hitting the high notes, the news that a musical is definitely confirmed is enough to tide us over for now. This is the best musical news until we’ve heard since we found out you could stream Broadway shows online…
