The Mean Girls Musical Has Found Its Cast!
Back in 2012, Tina Fey sparked rumors that she’d be turning Mean Girls into a musical, which had us all proclaiming that the idea was so fetch! Then, in the spring of 2014, we were teased with the news that the project was definitely happening — though at the time they told us it could hit the stage as early as that same summer… which obviously didn’t come to pass. It now looks like things are rolling right along, though, as the Mean Girls musical cast has just been announced.
You may not recognize the ladies who have been cast, but that will undoubtedly change once you see this show, which was written by Tina Fey and features music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin (who were also responsible for the musical version of Legally Blonde).

Erika Henningsen will be playing the formerly homeschooled teen Cady Heron as she enters high school and encounters the Plastics, including Regina George (who will be played by Taylor Louderman), Gretchen Wieners (played by Ashley Park), and Karen Smith (played by Kate Rockwell).
All four of the stars have impressive resumes. Henningsen recently starred in Les Miserables (as the youngest Fantine in Broadway history), Louderman has appeared in shows including Kinky Boots and in NBC’s Peter Pan Live!, Park was seen in the recent revival of The King and I, and Rockwell has taken the stage for Bring It On, Rock of Ages, Legally Blonde, and Hair.
The musical will debut at the National Theatre in Washington, DC, on October 31, 2017 (with a Broadway run planned afterward).
