Meet #TeaLizard, Today’s Hilarious Accidental Twitter Meme
Early this morning, Good Morning America sent out a Tweet to viewers, asking for their favorite memes. We’re not exactly sure who they have running their social media but, well, the tweet missed the mark just a little bit.
In the tweet, GMA asked: “Does #CryingLeBron join other meme greats like #tealizard, #CryingJordan and #smockin / the mask? Tweet us!” Wondering what a “tea lizard” is? Well, it’s what GMA thought that the world’s most famous Muppet was. Yes, that’s right, that hilarious Kermit drinking tea meme (otherwise known as “that’s none of my business“) has been hashtagged #TeaLizard by GMA and, for obvious reasons, the Internet is going bananas.
Some people pointed out GMA‘s lack of scientific nomenclature…
Literally the definition image is a lizard vs frog. Pop culture and science are strangers to @GMA #tealizard pic.twitter.com/q6KxstyPLp

Someone clearly has no childhood whatsoever or was severely deprived. Kermit the Frog is not a #tealizard. https://t.co/xbvVRrp4gG

…while others were just plain mad.

Others still combined #TeaLizard with other memes.

Someone even got to Miss Piggy.
Don’t you hate when you get mistaken for someone you're not? Kermit #TeaFrog > #TeaLizard #ButThatsNoneOfMyBusiness #PutSomeRespeckOnMyName

But, thankfully, Kermit has had the last word.
