Watch Meghan Markle on “Deal or No Deal” in Her Early TV Days
This week’s announcement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement has caused a tidal wave of excitement. Fans, friends, and family are pleased to see both parties happy, and many people feel hopeful about the modernity and diversity that an American WOC joining the royal family represents. As Markle’s public presence grows, we’re learning more about the former actress — including some of the TV roles that kickstarted her acting career.
The Game Show Network recently released some archived footage of the future royal’s time on the hit game show Deal or No Deal. According to Markle’s IMDb page, she appeared as a briefcase model alongside host Howie Mandel between 2006 and 2007. As you can see from the clip, she looks pretty much exactly the same as we see her today, with a warm smile and sunny disposition.
Markle, who most recently played Rachel Zane on the USA series Suits, is currently transitioning out of acting to focus on her philanthropic passions and new royal duties, but some of her former Deal or No Deal castmates remember her early determination to make it on screen.
“She was always reading scripts behind the scenes when we had our downtime,” one fellow briefcase model told Inside Edition earlier this year. “She was always working on her craft.”
Markle is set to start undertaking official engagements alongside Harry this Friday, but until then, relive her Deal or No Deal days in the clip below.
