Meghan Markle Gets in on the Reigning Pantsuit Trend for Her First Black-Tie Event With Prince Harry
Melania Trump’s not the only one standing out in a pantsuit! Meghan Markle, who has been breaking all kinds of royal fashion rules since becoming engaged to Prince Harry back in November, is turning her back on convention once more. The former Suits star stepped out in — well, a suit — for her first official black-tie event with her fiancé last night in London, taking on the same trending style we saw hit the red carpet at the 2018 Grammy Awards.
The 36-year-old was all smiles despite the rainy weather (and an awkward awards ceremony mixup!) in an Alexander McQueen Classic Suiting Jacket ($1,995) while appearing at the Endeavor Fund Awards, which recognizes former military members injured in the line of duty. The top featured a tapered-waist flanked with angled pockets and a single button in the center, though the brunette beauty chose to leave it undone, revealing a classic white blouse with a simple ribbon detail on the neck.
As for her trousers, the royal bride-to-be opted for slim-fitting ones that were cropped at the ankle, which she accessorized with a pair of chic black pumps.
The future-royal’s understated ensemble was quite the contrast to her soon-to-be sister-in-law Kate Middleton, who has traditionally worn gowns to such events, including the printed floral Erdem gown she wore for a black tie dinner in Sweden earlier this week.
Still, both ladies looked equally stunning: Kudos to Meghan for (continuing!) to march to her own fashion beat!
