Meghan Markle Says She and Prince Harry Already Have a ‘Long List’ of Baby Names
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced earlier this week that they’re expecting their first child next spring, and while the couple haven’t revealed many details just yet, they did give an update on how picking out a name is going.
Currently in Australia for their first royal tour together, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their way to Melbourne for a series of engagements on Thursday, October 18. While there, they rode a tram with students from Albert Park Primary School, Port Melbourne Primary School, and Elwood Secondary College, and the curious kids couldn’t help but ask some questions about the baby-to-be.
According to ET, 12-year-old Charlie Wolf asked Markle if she had picked out a baby name yet. “We’ve been given a long list of names from everyone,” Markle reportedly replied. “We’re going to sit down and have a look at them.” She added that it was still too early to have settled on a name just yet.
As with Harry’s brother and sister-in-law, Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton, bookmakers will no doubt compile a list of baby name bets for the couple. Almost as soon as Kensington Palace announced Markle’s pregnancy, bookies began making early predictions, although the list is likely to change and be solidified closer to the baby’s spring 2019 birth.
One thing we do know about the royal family’s new addition is how he or she will change the line of succession to the British throne: Currently, Harry is sixth in line to the throne, so his first child will be seventh.
