This Braid Is All Party in the Back
We know, we know — fall is coming. But we’re having some trouble letting go of our breezy summer style, so we’ve designed a braid that’s all party in the back — you know, to show off those backless summer pieces while we still can. Trust us — the edgier cousin to early summer’s favorite, the boxer braid, is the mid-lay braid. We can’t help but think it makes any outfit. Bring your cool factor up a notch and rock this turned-up style to all your end-of-summer shindigs. Slay girl, slay!
STEP 1: FINE TUNE THE MIDDLE
Section off your middle part to create a clean middle (mid-lay) braid. We used a skinny clip to clean up lines and keep unused hair out of the way for the moment.
STEP 2: BEGIN A 3D MIDDLE BRAID
Begin a French braid in your middle section, starting as close to your forehead as possible. You want to braid fromunderneath, rather than over the top, to make your braid pop.
Once you reach the nape of the neck, begin pancaking (widening) your braid and hold your style in place with an elastic band. We added our favorite skinny clips to the back of the hair to keep our middle braid clean.
STEP 3: JOIN SIDES
Gather your sides with your back braided ‘do to form a low-rise ponytail. BAM! You’re done! Don’t you just love this easy, edgy style?!
