Millie Bobby Brown Says Shaving Her Head Was the Most Empowering Moment of Her Life

Millie Bobby Brown may be rocking luscious curls for her reprised stint as the van-flipping, Eggo-eating Eleven on season two of Stranger Things, but she hasn’t forgotten her character’s signature shaved head from season one. In fact, she just shared a message about the hairstyle that was so powerful, it’s inspiring women the world over to share their OWN shaved headshots on social media.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, the 13-year-old, who has cited the shaved hair look as her all-time favorite coif, reveals she misses the buzzed style, writing “Shaving your head is so empowering. You don’t need hair to be beautiful. You are beautiful with or without. I learnt that too x.”

As she shared in a tweet later that day that showed the moment her tresses were shorn, that “was the most empowering moment of [her] whole life,” with the young actress writing, “The last strand of hair cut off was the moment my whole face was on show and I couldn’t hide behind my hair like I used to. As I looked in the mirror I realized I had one job to do. Inspire.”

Inspire, she did: Followers immediately began responding with stories of how they were terrified to shave their heads, but feel much better about doing so now.

What a powerful message. Eleven forever and ever!
