Milo Ventimiglia’s Dad Was More Excited About This Snack Than His Emmy Nomination
Milo Ventimiglia‘s fans were overjoyed to hear that one of the 10 Emmy nominations given to This Is Us went to our beloved Jack Pearson in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category (and another went to his costar and on-screen son, Sterling K. Brown). Less impressed by the honor? His dad.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, August 8, Ventimiglia described his parents as “very proud, very excited” for his nod, but said that for his dad, “that wasn’t the news of the day.” Ventimiglia went on to explain further, “On the day of the nomination, it also happened to be National French Fry Day.”
As evidence of his father’s commitment to the day, Ventimiglia shared a photo from his father’s Instagram account posted the day the Emmy nominations were announced — a photo of French fries that he captioned, “I have missed a few National Celebrations in my day, but I won’t miss this one. Today is National French Fry Day.”
Papa Ventimiglia — deemed an “aficionado of snacks” by his son — continued the celebration the following day with National Chili Mac Day, and then the day after during National Ice Cream Day. Sounds like a man after our own heart, TBH.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to see Ventimiglia’s dad or mom at the September celebration, as his parents declined his invitation to the Emmys. “They said they’re holding out for an Academy Award,” the TV actor quipped. Well, we can’t say we blame them for dreaming big.
