PSA: You Can Now Recreate The 'Gilmore Girls' Characters' Homes In Your Own Abode — Here's How
Calling all Gilmore Girls fans! Inspired by the 19th anniversary of the show (whoa, that went fast!) online interior design company, Modsy, recreated the homes of the beloved Stars Hallow's characters with 2019 style in mind. If you once considered yourself a Lorelai, Rory, Luke, Sookie, Paris or Emily (or aspired to be, anyway), scroll on to see how you can snag their decorative tastes in your very own abode.
Lorelai: First up, the sweet and upbeat Lorelai! The main protagonist is known for marching to the beat of her own drum, which is exuded in all aspects of this room from the mismatched gallery wall to the pink couch. "She isn’t swayed by trends or what’s popular. Her favorite piece would be the Flamingo Lamp Ensemble from Anthropologie - It’s quirky, fun, and unconventional, just like Lorelai!" echos Alessandra Wood, VP of Style at Modsy.
Rory: The room of Rory packs effort and ease into every inch of the space, while reflecting her east coast taste. Just consider the walls, appropriately painted a "London Fog" color or the rug with coastal vibes covering the floor. And since the star loves her movie nights, it's designed with ample (calming, neutral-toned) seating to kick back in with her mother.
Luke: Take it from Modsy's VP of style on what makes this setup speak to the Gilmore Girlsleading man: "Luke's style is warm and masculine, and not too thought out, which is why we went for a masculine green when painting his living room. There are some hand-me-down pieces from his dad’s hardware store which he easily mixes in with different weathered woods, metals, leathers, and especially plaid," she says. "He doesn’t care too much about design but appreciates a well made, durable piece. There are rustic and industrial elements that are balanced out with comfortable, large pieces for the ultimate man cave."
Sookie: We *adore* the funky and fun atmosphere created for Sookie here. The patterns and multi-hued color palette are a delight, just like this star! In fact, we can picture Lorelai hunkering in for a good 'ole coffee chat with Sookie on that fun teal sofa right now!
Paris: This living area is a bit of a departure from the other stars, which is only fitting given Paris' distant and cold nature. The departure can be seen in the streamlined furniture, minimalist accents, and monochrome structure of everything used. And don't miss her pride and joy — the Yale and Harvard diplomas — flanked over her desk (which she would definitively be proud of).
Emily: Last, but not least, is Emily. Her room is depicted here with a nod to classic design with a modern twist for the character's unique personality and taste. "Emily would love rethinking the layout of the space, and would ultimately end up with a more formal layout of the space than Lorelai previously had," says Wood. "She immediately creates a space that is fit for conversation and small gatherings." When can we come over?
